COVID Relief

Older adults are at significantly greater risk of complications from the coronavirus and case fatality rates increase significantly with age due to reduced immunity and the increased likelihood of existing chronic conditions and yet most of older persons in Uganda are poor and barely surviving. Most of them cannot afford modern disinfectants or ordinary soap. In this appeal, HENU provided older persons and their families with soap, posho, beans, and charcoal.

AMOUNT RAISED: $1,372

Tears of joy streamed down the cheeks of one older lady after receiving 5kgs of posho from a HENU volunteer. She was remaining with only one cup of posho in her house and was worried of what to feed her grandchildren on. When she went to her cassava plantation, she found thieves had uprooted the cassava.
